Fred vows to improve to cement spot in Brazil side

Brazil’s FIFA Confederations Cup hero Fred has used the choicest of Brazilian phrases to describe his desire to represent the Canaries at the FIFA World Cup next summer on home soil, stating that he would kill a lion everyday to ensure he gets his chance to represent his nation at the biggest event in the country’s calendar.

The 29 year old striker enjoyed a brilliant 2012/13 campaign, both for his club Fluminense and his country Brazil. The striker, who in recent months, has been linked with a host of European clubs including Manchester City, scored 20 goals last season for Fluminense as the club secured their fourth top flight title and also scored five goals for the national team in the recently concluded FUFA Confederations Cup as they wrapped up their third consecutive triumph in the tournament.

Speaking to a media outlet, Fred stated that the closer the tournament comes, the more anxious he becomes. He mentioned that he is very happy to be a part of the FIFA Confederations Cup winning side but added that he knows he has to kill a lion everyday and improve even more if he is to be a part of the Brazil squad for next summer’s spectacle.

He mentioned that it was an amazing season for him last year – leading Fluminense to the Brazilian Serie A title and the country to glory in the FIFA Confederations Cup was great. He thanked the coach and technical director of the Brazilian team for keeping faith in his abilities and trusting him but he knows he still has a lot to do to convince them to give him a chance to play for Brazil at the one tournament that matters most to any fan in the country and any footballer as well and that is the World Cup.
